The world’s largest open-air metal festival will welcome the Swiss all-female group to the stage for the first time.
Burning Witches have announced that they will play Wacken Open Air 2019. The announcement came on July 3rd, the band posting on their Facebook:
“WAAAACKEN!!! We are coming to rock your socks off! A dream is coming true, we are gonna perform at the WACKEN festival on the [sic] 31.7.2019! Amazing news for us and all the WITCHES fans worldwide attending to this major event this year! See you on the holy ground!”
Guitarist Sonia Anubis shared her feelings on her own page:
“Since I started playing for the first time in a band I always had ‘playing on Wacken festival’ as the ultimate goal to reach ever in my musician life, like I remember talking with my bandmates of Deamension (first metal band I was in, about imagining playing at Wacken). It was the highest point to reach in my eyes. Just like an impossible dream. And not so long time later this is now becoming reality, and I really can NOT believe it. Never thought it would come, and not even THAT soon in my life. I can’t be more thankful to anyone who has been supporting anything I’ve been involved in music since the beginning and making me believe that dreams come true, because they really do!!!”
In a news release, the Wacken festival echoed the band’s sentiment:
“For swiss All-Girl-Metal Band Burning Witches it is a real first time W:O:A-experience. The Ladys [sic] are currently working on their next record, so they are not playing too many shows this summer – but we are proud to be one of them.”
Last month, Burning Witches fans everywhere were shocked when the group announced vocalist Serenia Telli had left to devote herself full-time to her side project, Dead Venus. The Witches were quick to close the gap, however, introducing Dutch vocalist Laura Guldemond as Telli’s replacement and issuing a new track with her the following week.
If you haven’t already, check out the new Burning Witches featuring Laura Guldemond!
Be sure to catch Burning Witches this summer at W:O:A 2019!
