Earlier this week, Burning Witches shocked fans with the announcement that singer Seraina Telli had left the group. Today the Swiss all-female metal band released the new track “Wings of Steel,” the first to feature new singer Laura Guldemond.
Fans were dismayed with the announcement of Telli’s departure. Telli had collaborated frequently with founder and guitarist Romana Kalkuhl to write the band’s songs, forming the signature style that has been blowing away Burning Witches fans since 2015. With their heavy riffs and soaring melodies, Burning Witches have given the world a formidable display of girl power in metal.
Despite this shakeup, Burning Witches vowed to continue their work. At last week’s Sweden Rock Festival, the band announced that they had recruited Laura Guldemond to carry the torch. Guldemond is best known as the vocalist for Dutch symphonic metal band Shadowrise.
Burning Witches have dedicated “Wings of Steel” to their fans. Says the band:
“We wrote this song also for our faithful supporters that give us so much faith & strength, so we can do what we love! You set our souls on Fire – Wings of Steel!”
