Sonia Nusselder of Burning Witches forms a new band with ex-Nervosa members

Sonia “Anubis” Nusselder, the guitar player of heavy metal band Burning Witches and Cobra Spell, has joined forces with ex-Nervosa vocalist/bass player Fernanda Lira, drummer Luana Dametto for a new death metal band Crypta. Completing the Brazilian/Dutch fourpiece on guitar is Tainá Bergamaschi, ex-member of Hagbard.

The band members revealed the news via their social media earlier today: “Born in June 2019, Crypta is a Brazilian/Dutch Death Metal four-piece, influenced by the old school sub-genres of the style.”

Sonia comments: “It fills me up of excitement to announce that in the past year I’ve been writing together with these amazing, talented & brutal girls. We have been keeping it secret for quite a while (almost a year!), but we are finally ready to announce this publicly!”

As for the direction of the band, she says: “The style of this band is going to be one that I’ve been VERY close with for a long time, the oh so glorious death metal! For me, this is a very refreshing and personal genre, a music style that makes me feel very free, and Crypta will allow me to release the overload of brutality and fire that I feel inside.”

The great news is that the ladies are busy working on Crypta’s debut, which we’ll get to hear more about soon: “The band is currently working on the songs for their upcoming first release, yet to be recorded and which further details should be announced any time soon.”

Stay tuned for more details!
