On September 10, Aeva Maurelle announced her departure from German alternative metal band Aeverium. Today, the band revealed her replacement. The new singer of Aeverium is Vanessa Katakalos!
“Today, we are more than thrilled and excited to let you all know that we finally found the right singer with the right attitude! Vanessa Katakalos from the area Friedrichshafen will take place beside Chubby on stage!” posted the band on their social media.
Vanessa is 29 years old German-Greek singer. She gained singing experience from cover acts and joining German heavy metal band Witchbound on stage as a backing vocalist. She also posed as a witch for the cover artwork of their album “Tarot’s Legacy” in 2015. Vanessa is known as a model for a German-based heavy metal and hard rock music mail order and merchandising store EMP. Besides music, Vanessa’s hobby is also make-up and posting her creations on social media.
Vanessa comments on her new role as the band’s female leader: “I’m really happy and I’m looking forward to the upcoming time with Aeverium and their gorgeous fans!!! I already fell in love with the band since I saw the guys with Lord Of The Lost on some concerts as their support band. I’m soooo excited to enter the stage with the guys!”
The first show with Vanessa will be at Herbststurm Festival in Oldenburg on October 20, 2018. A tour with Lacrimas Profundere and a hometown show at Rockschicht in Viersen on November 23 will follow.
As for their ex-singer Aeva Maurelle, you can catch her performing with symphonic metallers Xandria in December. They’ll play two shows in Russia:
