Within Temptation have started “The Resist Tour 2018” with a bang in Russian Krasnoyarsk this past Thursday. The band performed for the first time after almost two years and surprised the audience with a bunch of brand new tracks taken from their upcoming seventh studio album “Resist” due out December 17. Besides the first single “The Reckoning”, they premiered “Raise Your Banner”, “Supernova”, “Mercy Mirror” and “Endless War”. You can check fan-recorded footage of all new tracks below.
In a recent interview for RockAntenne, Sharon said on the account of the new material: “With “Resist”, we took elements from the pop music played nowadays. The sounds and roughing them up with heavy guitars. It became modern and refreshing. “Resist” is going to be a heavy album, but has elements of old music combined with these refreshing elements.”
She also pointed out that “Resist” won’t be a pop album, stating that “the songs on the album will not be aired on any pop radio station for sure.”
Speaking of concepts and themes on the album, Sharon said that the album isn’t a conceptual one, but “more like a global feeling. A feeling we had while writing the album.” It all started with the word “resist” that inspired the band during the songwriting process, and now the whole record revolves around it. The second single from “Resist” will be released soon.
