Anneke van Giersbergen – Zo Lief (Music Video)

Anneke van Giersbergen unveils a music video for “Zo Lief”, a song taken from her upcoming live release “Symphonized” in collaboration with Residentie Orkest. Watch the video for her first song with Dutch lyrics as a solo artist below.

Anneke comments on the meaning of “Zo Lief”: “The song is about hanging on and letting go. I always thought that I would be a pretty relaxed mom, but dealing with transitions turns out to be more challenging than expected. Every time my son Finn enthusiastically welcomes a new stage of his independence, I have to admit that letting go of parental attachment isn’t that easy.”

Translated to English, the title “Zo Lief” stands for “So Sweet” and it is the very first time van Giersbergen releases a song in her native language as a solo artist. Anneke wrote and demoed the song a couple of years ago. Only now, she presents “Zo Lief” as a part of her live record “Symphonized” in collaboration with Residentie Orkest The Hague.

“‘Zo Lief’ is very close to my heart, I hope it means something to you as well,” adds the Dutch vocalist, musician and songwriter. Watch the video shot at the Dutch North Sea Coast by director Mark Uyl below.

Symphonized” is a live album with orchestral renditions of songs from Anneke’s more than 20 years long career. It was recorded last May in Dutch venues 013 (Tilburg) and Paard (The Hague). Anneke performed alongside one of the leading Dutch symphony orchestras Residentie Orkest The Hague conducted by Arjan Tien. Orchestral arrangements for songs from her solo career, as well as her time in The Gathering, The Gentle Storm and VUUR, were written by Marijn van Prooijen and Gijs Kramers. “Symphonized” comes out November 16 as CD Digipak, Gatefold 2LP + CD and as a digital audio download.
