As usual, we’re starting with December’s album releases and announcements.
Many bands closed 2018 with a bang, releasing amazing albums. Dutch metallers For I Am King released an amazing album “I” on December 7, just like Marcela Bovio presented her second solo album “Through Your Eyes” and Japanese all-female heavy metal band Lovebites dropped “Clockwork Immortality” on the same day. On December 20, Ukrainian modern oriental metal outfit Ignea shared an instrumental version of their debut album “The Sign Of Faith“.
Dutch symphonic metallers Delain revealed details of their new material “Hunter’s Moon” featuring not only brand new tracks but also live songs from their special Danse Macabre tour. Italian death metal band Mechanical God Creation announced a signing to new record label and album on the way. A new album is also coming from heavy metal group Battle Beast. December 2018 will forever be written in minds of fans of Spanish melodic death metal group [In Mute]. The vocalist Steffi García decided to part ways with them. You can read the full statement here.
We talked about Within Temptation at the end of 2018 a lot. Their new singles and comeback tour were some of the highlights of the year. And of course, we wouldn’t miss a chance to present the greatest moments of their spectacular Resist shows through the lenses of our dear photographer Valerie Schuster. Check out the photo gallery from their show in Munich, Germany on December 17.
In December, we took a closer look at the straigt edge movement, veganism and how they relate to women in metal. If you’re interested in the topic, read our article here. Infected Rain shared a documentary from their 2018 summer tour. You can recap IR summer adventures here. Arch Enemy’s frontwoman Alissa White-Gluz collaborated with Lamb Of God members Mark Morton and Randy Blythe. You surely need to hear their track “The Truth Is Dead“, especially when you miss her clean vocals. Just in time for Christmas, Within Temptation dropped a live recording of their 2016’s Black X-Mas show. Keeping up with the holiday spirit, Beyond The Black launched a charity for children in need and as a part of her dark Christmas tour, Tarja was joined by her daughter Naomi on stage. Their cute performance is available here. Finishing the summary, let us present our personal highlight of not only December but also the whole past year. On December 23, we launched the very first Metal Goddesses Awards with seven categories and many amazing artists, albums, songs and videos to vote for. You did a great job voting for your favourites and we’re forever grateful for your interest. In case you missed it, we invite you to join us next December.
That’s a wrap for December and 2018! Don’t forget to join us for a recap of January 2019.
