Finnish symphonic metallers Nightwish released an official live video for their song “The Greatest Show on Earth” in order to celebrate a new crap species named after them. On this special live video, Richard Dawkins, professor of evolution, joined Nightwish on stage to perform his spoken parts of the song live at Wembley. Watch the video below.
The crab was named “Tanidromites nightwishorum” to honor Nightwish but especially the 2015 album “Endless Forms Most Beautiful”, which is dedicated to and about the evolution of life.
Nightwish explain: „The new species of crab was found in eastern Austria and lived during the late part of the Jurassic period, around 150 million years ago. While dinosaurs dominated the land, parts of Europe were covered by a warm, shallow sea full of life. Tanidromites nightwishorum was discovered in a fossil coral reef. Crab diversity and abundance exploded for the very first time in their evolutionary history during the Late Jurassic in central Europe.“
